Mary Jane 609
Mary Harris is a performer and was brought into this world by Barbara (fine artist and designer) and Leroy Harris (pastor and musician) on August 8th of 1991. She began singing at the age of five (5), performing solos in the church where her father, Leroy was the minister of music. Her spirituality propels her to strive continuously to be better as an artist and a humanitarian.
Being diagnosed with dyslexia, Mary used art to cope with learning difficulties and graduated from high school with honors. Mary’s love for art was passed down from her mother Barbra Harris, who is a successful dress designer, and fine artist whose work is displayed in galleries all over the tri-state area.
Mary began selling her artwork at the age of thirteen (13) years old. Then at age eighteen (18) she taught herself to play the guitar and began to write inspirational music. Mary uses her skills as a musician and artist to encourage young people and show them that adversity does not limit their possibilities.
She is an advocate for the homeless and volunteers her time organizing groups that feed the homeless and those that are in need. Mary is quoted as saying “All I want to do with my life is help others.”
